Replacing the control cord for roller shutters

This may be necessary if your control cord has become dirty during operation or damaged.

The roller shutter control cord will be replaced at the stand, as you can see in the video.

In our case, the cassette will be indoors.

You will need: a new cord, which you can buy on our website, a screwdriver and pliers.

Step-by-step replacement of the cord in the Magnita cassette mechanism

1. First, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws from the box cover and remove it. 

2. Next, disconnect the traction springs and unscrew the shaft fixing screw.

3. The next step is to remove the shaft and remove the old cord from the pulley.

4. Then insert the new cord into the pulley hole and make a knot. The new cord must be three times longer than the height of the roller shutter itself.

5. After that, insert the shaft into the box and wind the cord until it is equal to the height of your roller shutter.

6. Put on the traction springs, tighten the box lid and let the new cord into the room.

Next, you need to remove the old cord from the cassette mechanism. To do this, take a screwdriver and press the closing mechanism.

After the cassette has opened, take out the pulley and remove the old cord. Take a new cord and pass it through the cassette first. The end of the cord can be melted a little with a lighter so that the fibres do not stick out.

At the very end of the cord, put a special metal fastener. If you don't have a new one, you can remove it from the old cord. Fix it with pliers, clamping it on the sides.

Then attach this fastener to the pulley and wind the cord in an anti-clockwise direction. Insert the pulley into the cassette and close it.

That's it, you can now use the roller shutter.
