In this article we will describe how to replace the spring inside a roller shutter.

To replace the spring we will need a screwdriver and a new spring.

Procedure for replacing the spring mechanism of a roller shutter

1. First you need to remove the lower part of the box. Take the screwdriver and unscrew the screws that connect the side end caps of the box to the lower part.

2. Next you need to detach the tension springs from the shaft. Since the tension springs are on clips, this is very easy to do. It is shown clearly in the video below.

3. Then, using the screwdriver, push the spring mechanism inside the shaft to remove it from the box.

4. After removing the shaft, you need to pull the spring out of it. This is also done with the screwdriver.

Now you need to select a new spring.

How to select a new spring for a roller shutter?

1. To do this, take a tape measure and measure the distance from tab to tab, as shown in the video.

2. We got 930 mm; next we need to look at the table in our catalog. To obtain the catalog and select a spring, contact our managers.

In the catalog, in the table of characteristics of the spring-inertia mechanisms, find the "Overall dimensions" column. There we will see the entry "A". Once we have found the right spring, we look at its code next to it and place the order. In this case our code will be 60/24.

3. After we have selected and received the spring, we insert it back into the shaft. Then you need to press the spring mechanism in with your finger to fit the shaft with the spring back into the box and secure it in the box.

4. The next step is to wind the shaft away from yourself. For a medium-sized shutter this is 8-10 turns. We recommend winding one extra turn, since the spring may stretch during use.

5. Then attach the tension springs to the shaft. After that, open and close the shutter to check that the spring works.

Checking that the shutter works correctly after replacing the spring

If the shutter holds well in any position, it means the spring is properly tensioned.

If the shutter drops down, you need to add a few more turns. After that, all that is left is to fit and screw on the lower part of the box.
