Welcome to our website!

Many of our customers use automation for their roller shutters or roller shutter gates. This means that the roller shutter system is controlled by a motor housed inside the roller tube. The motor can be operated using a wall switch, a remote control or via WiFi. That depends entirely on the customer's needs and preferences.

And sometimes it happens that a shutter needs its motor replaced. In what cases might this be necessary?

Reasons for replacing a shutter motor

Below we list some of the possible reasons why a motor replacement may be needed:

  1. The old motor has failed and the shutters no longer open.
  2. The shutter motor is running with faults that are not related to the mechanics of the roller shutters or roller shutter gates.
  3. The customer has decided to upgrade the system and add functionality by replacing the old motor with a new one that has extra control features.
  4. An additional emergency-opening option is required.

Can I replace the roller shutter system's motor myself?

We offer several models and form factors of shutter motors, each of which you can replace yourself in the roller shutter system. The procedure is straightforward and does not take much time. To help, we have prepared a video guide, which you can watch below:

You can purchase any shutter motors on our website or by calling us. Our managers will help you select the right configuration and provide additional information on installation.

Step-by-step motor replacement guide

  1. Power down the system. Before you start work, be sure to disconnect the shutters from the mains. This will help you avoid electric shock.
  2. Removing the old motor: 1) Remove the housing (box) that covers the shutter mechanism. 2) Disconnect the motor from the mains and from the control system (remote, switches, etc.) 3) Remove the motor from the shutter tube by undoing the fixings and disconnecting the cables.
  3. Checking the condition of the tube. Inspect the shutter tube to make sure there is no wear or damage. If necessary, clean any dust and dirt off the tube.
  4. Installing the new motor: 1) Insert the new motor into the tube, following the manufacturer's instructions. 2) Secure the motor using the fixings supplied. 3) Connect the motor cables to the control system.
  5. Connecting to the mains and setting up: 1) Connect the motor to the mains. 2) Check the shutters work by testing the raising and lowering. 3) If necessary, set the shutters' end positions (the upper and lower limits).
  6. Closing the housing. After successful testing, close the box by refitting the cover in place.
