Many of our customers prefer automation for their roller shutters or roller gates. This means that the system is operated using a tubular motor installed inside the shaft. The motor can be controlled in various ways: via a wall switch, a remote control, or even through WiFi. The choice depends on the customer’s preferences and needs.

However, there are situations when the motor of the roller system needs to be replaced. When might this be necessary?

Reasons to Replace a Roller Shutter Motor

Here are some common scenarios where motor replacement may be required:

  1. The old motor has failed, and the roller shutters no longer open.
  2. The motor operates with malfunctions unrelated to the mechanical parts of the system.
  3. The customer decides to upgrade the system and replace the old motor with a modern one that offers additional features.
  4. There is a need for an emergency manual opening option.

Can You Replace the Motor Yourself?

We offer a variety of motor models and formats, all of which can be replaced by the customer without professional help. The process is straightforward and doesn’t take much time. To make it even easier, we’ve prepared a detailed video tutorial, which you can find below.

You can purchase any roller shutter motor on our website or by contacting us directly. Our managers will help you choose the right model and provide additional guidance on installation.

Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing a Roller Shutter Motor

  • Disconnect the Power Supply. Before starting, make sure to disconnect the roller shutters from the power supply to avoid the risk of electric shock.
  • Remove the Old Motor: Remove the protective cover (box) that houses the roller mechanism. Disconnect the motor from the electrical wiring and the control system (remote, switches, etc.). Extract the motor from the shaft by loosening the mounting brackets and unplugging the wires.
  • Inspect the Shaft. Examine the shaft for any wear or damage. Clean it of dust and debris if necessary.
  • Install the New Motor: Insert the new motor into the shaft, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Secure the motor using the provided mounting hardware. Connect the motor’s cables to the control system.
  • Reconnect to Power and Adjust Settings: Reconnect the motor to the power supply. Test the roller shutters to ensure they open and close properly. Adjust the upper and lower limit settings if needed.
  • Reinstall the Protective Cover. Once the system is working correctly, reinstall the cover to protect the mechanism.

By following these steps, you can replace the motor and restore the full functionality of your roller shutters. If you have any questions or wish to order a motor, feel free to contact us — our team is always ready to assist!
