How can you control a shutter using both a remote and a switch?

In our previous newsletter we announced the topic of controlling a shutter with both a remote control and a switch at the same time. Why would you need this? For example, a customer wants to keep the remote in the car and enters the house through the garage, so inside the garage a switch is all they need to close the gate or garage. Or another situation, where all the shutters in the house are closed with a remote and group control, but you'd like to be able to open some windows separately. And finally, the most obvious one. The remote gets lost, or as always the battery dies unexpectedly, and this is exactly when a switch would come in very handy. In short, the customer's wish is our command.

To start with, we should explain that there are three ways to control a motor automatically.

1. The first method is the simplest: a rocker-type switch wired directly (or through contactors) straight to the motor. You can of course combine such a switch with a remote, but you have to build a fairly bulky protection system, needed so that, for example, if you have used the remote to run the motor upwards, no one presses the down switch. If that happens, the motor will of course burn out. For this reason the method isn't used, even though implementing that protection only takes 2 time relays and 2 contactors.
2. The second method is the most expensive and the most advanced. It was developed by Nero Electronics and is based on controlling the motors through the home's electrical wiring. In other words, a coded high-frequency signal is transmitted over the power network. A receiver has to be installed on each motor to decode this signal and start the motor running according to the command sent. What look like ordinary switches are installed for control, but they don't actually switch anything off; instead they transmit a coded signal over the power network to a central panel (or central switch), which decodes it and then controls the motors. Nero Electronics uses this system in its Nero and Nero II product lines. These systems are used in places where it isn't possible to connect a conventional (over-the-air) remote, or where the airwaves are too noisy.
3. And finally, the most suitable control option in our case is using an ordinary remote. See the photo below.
