The limit positions define the extreme points — the range within which an automatic shutter can travel. Setting them correctly is very important to avoid damage and ensure the mechanism works properly. Incorrectly set limit positions can put excessive strain on the mechanism, wear out the materials, or even lead to a breakdown.

In this article we want to share a guide to setting the limit positions, using the example of an R-series radio-controlled motor from the manufacturer Magnita. To make the process clearer, we have prepared a video.

Setting the upper position

On our motor, the white opening controls the upper position. To raise the level higher, turn it clockwise. When the shutter is connected to the mains, the curtain will gradually wind up with each turn. If we want to lower the upper position a little, we turn counterclockwise. The curtain will not move while doing this. It then needs to be lowered with the remote and raised all the way up to the stop.

Ideally, adjust the upper position so that one to one and a half slats remain visible.

Setting the lower position

You can set the lower position using the red opening. Turning clockwise lowers the level to its lowest point. With the motor running, the shutter curtain will gradually descend until you set the required height. Turning counterclockwise raises the lower position higher. To see the changes, you will need to raise the curtain and lower it all the way down to the stop.

Method

Make position changes gradually, in small steps, and check the limit positions by lowering and raising the shutter to make sure it stops at the required height without going out of range or leaving any gaps. After each adjustment, carefully test the shutter's operation several times to confirm that the changes you made are correct.

Not recommended

Making many turns at once, as it is easy to overdo it. In the upper position the curtain may jump out of the guide rails, and in the lower position it may press against the floor while the motor keeps forcing it down, which can cause a breakdown.

The limit positions in automatic roller shutters play a key role in ensuring the safety and efficient operation of the system. Setting these positions is an important part of the maintenance needed for the shutter to work optimally.
