Many customers come to us for help setting the raise and lower heights of the shutter curtain. While manually operated roller shutters and roller shutter gates rarely raise any questions, an automated roller shutter system can present these kinds of challenges.

When installing a roller shutter system, the technician selects the correct height to make the shutter operate more efficiently and reliably. Setting the end positions correctly is the key to a well-functioning roller shutter. If the upper position is set incorrectly, the curtain may jump out of the guide rails, or the customer will keep bumping their head on the lower edge of the curtain. The same applies to setting the lower position correctly: if it is set too high, a gap will remain that lets dust and cold into the room, and if it is set too low, the motor will build up excess pressure and may break.

How to set the upper stop position of the curtain when raising

The upper position of the shutter curtain should allow free use of the space in the room, meaning the edge of the shutter should not catch on a vehicle or movable property. Also, to prevent the shutter curtain from slipping out of the guide rail, one to one and a half slats should remain visible below the box.

To do this, take the remote control, turn on the power to the roller shutter system, and follow these steps:

1. Raise the curtain to the desired position. To do this, press the up button and press stop at the desired position.
2. Press the button under the remote's cover. Turn the remote over and open the back cover on it. There you'll find a small button. This is the programming button, and you need to press it.
3. Press the up button twice. Turn the remote back over and press the up button twice. The motor will make a sound confirming the settings have been accepted and will make a short up-and-down movement.

Setting the lower position of the shutter curtain

In the lower position, the shutter should completely close the entire opening, with no gaps. The slats should also sit snugly against the floor without being pressed into it.

To set the lower position, follow these steps:

1. Lower the curtain to the desired position. To do this, press the down button and stop the shutter at the desired position with the stop button.
2. Press the button under the remote's cover. Turn the remote over and open the back cover on it. There you'll find a small button. This is the programming button, and you need to press it.
3. Press the down button twice. Hold the remote face-up and press the down button twice. The motor will make a sound confirming the settings have been accepted and will make a short up-and-down movement.

Testing the settings

Once all the settings are programmed, move on to testing them. Check that the roller shutter system works by opening and closing it several times. If nothing gets in the way of you walking or driving a car through in the upper position, and there are no gaps or openings in the lower position while the motor isn't pressing the curtain into the ground, then you've done everything correctly.
